People can vote now to help find the nation’s favourite parks – with 12 Sandwell green spaces in the running.
Voting closes on 30 September in Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag People’s Choice Awards. You can vote for your favourite from almost 1,900 nationwide.
The 10 most popular parks and green spaces in the UK will be announced in October.
Sandwell has 12 parks and green spaces awarded the prestigious Green Flag – and the People’s Choice Awards are a further chance for public recognition.
Sandwell’s 2019 list includes six town parks, a cemetery and crematorium, as well as Sandwell Valley Country Park and community-run Warley Woods.
Two new parks received the special Green Flag status for the first time this year – Lightwoods Park and Red House Park.

- Barnford Park, Oldbury
- Brunswick Park, Wednesbury
- Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich
- Haden Hill Park, Cradley Heath– also a Green Heritage Site winner
- Lightwoods Park, Bearwood
- Red House Park, Great Barr
- Sandwell Valley Country Park, West Bromwich
- Sandwell Valley Crematorium, West Bromwich
- Tipton Cemetery
- Victoria Park, Smethwick
- Victoria Park, Tipton
- Warley Woods, Bearwood
Last year, Warley Woods was named in the national top 10.
Maria Crompton, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for
parks, said: “This is a great opportunity to celebrate our parks and green
spaces and everyone who helps keep them clean, tidy and well-used.
“It’s a real tribute to all the council staff, volunteers, friends, community groups and our waste partner Serco that we have 12 Green Flag sites – and the People’s Choice Awards is a chance for further recognition.”
