A pedestrian involved in a collision with a car yesterday morning received advanced trauma care by ambulance staff before being alerted to hospital.
The incident happened on Harnall Lane East in Coventry shortly before 8.30am. An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the critical care car from The Air Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, had reportedly been involved in a collision with a car and was initially knocked unconscious. When ambulance staff arrived he had a reduced level of consciousness and the team worked to carry out a top to toe assessment of the man. They found he had sustained a number of serious injuries which required immediate treatment on scene. Once in a stable condition, the man was immobilised with a spinal board and pelvic splint and taken on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further trauma care.”
