A man was seriously injured in a hit and run in Coventry last night (Monday 8 Oct).
The pedestrian, thought to be around 60-years-old, was crossing St James Lane in Willenhall around 7.20pm when he was struck by a white Audi which failed to stop.
The victim was given emergency first aid by passers by and then rushed to hospital where he is undergoing surgery for critical injuries.
Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to contact them.
Sergeant Alan Wood, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We have closed the road so that forensic examinations can be carried out. The Audi we believed to be involved will have collision damage and I would urge the driver to do the right thing and contact us.
“A man is in a critical condition in hospital, so I would also appeal to anyone who has CCTV or dash-cam footage of the Audi, which made off towards Binley, to get in touch.”
